Really Red Deer Tongue Lettuce - Organic

3082 - Long leaves, pointed, and completely dark, with a pale midrib. Begins as a unique dark red cutting type, then makes a butter-cos heart. Probably best as a spring lettuce. Direct seed outdoors as soon as ground can be worked and repeat every 2 weeks for continuous supply. Or start indoors in March and at regular intervals thereafter for early transplanted successions. Optimal germination temperature range 5-21˚C. Thin sowings frequently to a final distance of 1' for full heads. Requires more nitrogen than most.
